New Director of Division of Public Health Named
Hope Woodson takes over position today

St. Charles County, Missouri –The St. Charles County Department of Community Health and the Environment is pleased to announce the appointment of Hope Woodson to the position of director of the Division of Public Health. The division is one of three under the leadership of department director Gil Copley.

Woodson has worked for the department since 2002, most recently as chief of the Office of Emergency Preparedness and Epidemiology. In her new role, Woodson will oversee such traditional public health programs as immunizations, vital records, sexually transmitted disease prevention and treatment, communicable disease and epidemiology, and the WIC program. A native of southern Illinois, she holds a bachelor’s degree in health management from Southeast Missouri State University and a master’s degree in health administration from Lindenwood University. Woodson currently resides in O’Fallon with her husband Craig.

“We are fortunate to have people like Hope Woodson working for St. Charles County,” said department director Gil Copley. “Hope is exactly the right person to move the Division of Public Health forward in providing better and more comprehensive services to the residents of St. Charles County.”

“I am eager to get started in this new position,” Woodson said. “St. Charles County was recently named the healthiest county in the state of Missouri. The services and programs offered by the Division of Public Health will help to continue that ranking, and it will be my goal as division director to maintain and improve public health in our community.”

Woodson’s appointment comes after the December 2009 retirement of Nancy Duncan, who worked for the Department of Community Health and the Environment for more than 35 years.

The St. Charles County Department of Community Health and the Environment is committed to the protection and enhancement of health and the quality of life for all members of our community. For more information, call (636) 949-7400 or visit www.scchealth.org.
