St. Charles County Signs New WIC Contract

St. Charles County, MO - The St. Charles County Department of Community Health and the Environment has signed a contract with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services to continue to provide WIC services for federal fiscal year 2009. WIC, the Special Supplemental Food Program for Women, Infants, and Children, provides specific nutritious supplemental foods and nutrition education at no cost to pregnant and breastfeeding women, postpartum women, infants, and children up to age five. WIC guidelines count an unborn child as a member of the family when income eligibility is determined. WIC participants are persons who meet the WIC income guidelines shown below and are determined by health professionals to be at nutritional risk.

The WIC program, administrated by the St. Charles County Department of Community Health and the Environment, has sites in O’Fallon and the city of St. Charles.
