New Fees in Effect at Recycle Works

St. Charles County, MO - To cover the costs of recycling household appliances, electronic devices, and fluorescent bulbs, St. Charles County charges a nominal fee at its two recycling centers. To cover the escalating costs associated with recycling these materials, the County Council has authorized an increase in recycling fees.

Effective immediately, the new fee schedule is as follows:

Household appliances (refrigerators, stoves, dishwashers, hot water heaters, air conditioners, and similar devices) $15.00
Surcharge for devices with more than one compressor $15.00
Microwave ovens $5.00
CRT computer monitors (19 inches or smaller) $5.00
CRT computer monitors (20 inches or greater) $10.00
Computer printers (0-25 pounds) NO CHARGE
Computer printers (26 pounds or greater) $10.00
Copiers (desktop) $10.00
Copiers (oversized) $0.50 per pound
Fax machines NO CHARGE
Flat screen monitors (any size) $5.00
Laptop computers NO CHARGE
Computer scanners NO CHARGE
Televisions (19 inches or smaller) $5.00
Televisions (20 to 29 inches) $10.00
Televisions (30 inches or larger) $15.00
Typewriters NO CHARGE
Other devices at facility discretion $0.50 per pound

Fees for light bulbs are as follows:

Commercial establishments  
Fluorescent tubes (straight) $0.25 per foot
U-tube, circular, compact fluorescent $0.50 each
HID, mercury, halide, sodium $1.50 each
Shatter-Shield, Power Groove $1.50 each
Incandescent, quartz, halogen $0.50 each
Ultraviolet, arc lamps $3.00 each

Fluorescent bulbs presented for recycling may be refused at the discretion of the facility. Total charges for commercial establishments dropping off bulbs will be rounded up to the next whole dollar.
