FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Monday, August 27, 2001 County Names Environmental Public Health
Manager St. Charles County - - Mr. Gil Copley, Director of the St. Charles County Department of Community Health and the Environment, announced today the appointment of Mr. Barry J. Drucker to the position of Environmental Public Health Manager. Drucker will lead the Environmental Public Health efforts of the Division of Public Health. He brings 30 years of professional health experience to benefit residents in St. Charles County. "The current vaccinations were the difference between life and death for both animals," according to Mr. Gil Copley, the Director of the County's Department of Community Health and the Environment. Copley explained that "had the vaccinations not been current, both pets would have been euthanized, their heads sent to the Missouri Department of Health Public Health Laboratory, and the brain tissue examined for the rabies virus. Instead, they were immediately revaccinated and will be observed at home for 45 days." Drucker most recently served as Public Health Sanitation
Manager with the St. Louis County Department of Health. In his thirty-year
public health career he has also worked for the St. Louis City Department
of Health and the State of Missouri Departments of Health and Mental Health.
Drucker earned a Bachelors of Applied Science in Biological Sciences from
S.I.U. Carbondale, a Masters in Management and Human Relations from Webster
University and a master's degree in Public Health and Community Health
(MPH) from the St. Louis University School of Public Health. In his position with St. Charles County Government, Drucker will be responsible for overseeing environmental public health programs and ordinances including restaurant and retail grocery store inspection, tobacco sales compliance, and inspection of body piercing and tattooing businesses. Drucker will work with his staff to provide consultation to residents on various topics including lead poisoning risk assessment and abatement, asbestos, radon, and private well water supplies. He will also ensure that mandated sanitation inspections of all lodging facilities and daycare centers countywide are performed as required under contracts with the Missouri Department of Health. "We are truly fortunate to be able to add a person with Mr. Drucker's public health credentials and experience to our growing department," Copley said. "Mr. Drucker is known and well-respected across the State of Missouri. He comes to us with a long history of dedicated service to the public and is widely admired for his professional and personal ethics." Drucker's hiring fills the vacancy created by the retirement of 20-year county public health veteran Roger Dunajcik. St. Charles County Government welcomes Drucker to its staff. His experience and dedication will continue professional operation of the county's public health efforts. ### [GO BACK] |
