Fees Increase for Copies of Vital Records
Division of Public Health provides copies of birth and death certificates

St. Charles County - St. Charles County Department of Community Health and the Environment reminds county residents that effective August 28, 2004, House Bill 795 enacted by the 92nd General Assembly increased the fees for a certified copy of a birth or death certificate. Certified copies of birth records are increased to $15.00 each. Certified copies of a death record ordered at the same time for the same person are $13.00 for the first copy and $10.00 for each additional copy. (If an applicant requests two (2) copies of a death record in the morning, the fee would be $23.00. If the applicant requests an additional two (2) copies in the afternoon, it is considered a second request and the fee would be $23.00. If an applicant requests two (2) copies of a death record for one person and one copy of a death record for another person, the fee would be $36.00.)

Only family members may be issued birth certificates. Copies of death certificates may be issued to immediate family members or to persons with a valid business interest in the estate. An application must be completed and signed. Photo identification is required. Records can usually be printed while the customer waits. Cash, money orders and checks, with proper identification, are accepted. Applications are also available online at www.scchealth.org and can be printed, completed and mailed with the appropriate fee to 1650 Boone’s Lick Road, St. Charles, MO 63301.

Certified computer birth certificates can be issued for persons born anywhere in Missouri since 1920. Certified computer death certificates can be issued for deaths occurring in Missouri since 1980. For some purposes, such as genealogy, a certified copy of the original document is needed and can be requested from the Missouri Department of Health in Jefferson City.

Applications are taken for this helpful service Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. except holidays. The St. Charles County Department of Community Health and the Environment is conveniently located at 1650 Boone’s Lick Road, St. Charles, MO 63301. Ample parking is available.
