St. Charles County Joins the District
Opportunity Surfaces for even Greater Regional Cooperation on Waste Reduction Efforts Exciting excerpts from St. Louis–Jefferson Solid Waste Management District The St. Louis–Jefferson Solid Waste Management District is pleased to announce that St. Charles County has joined the District, enabling the organization to take an even greater regional approach to waste reduction in our area. St. Charles County has a number of working recycling initiatives already underway, which will compliment the works of the other counties as they collectively strive to obtain the statewide goal of reducing waste by 40 percent in Missouri. "Initially, this addition presents itself as a excellent opportunity for regional cooperation. In the long run, it will allow for greater coordination between regional programs and provide a means for even more businesses, organizations and municipalities to incorporate positive, environmental programs," stated Dave Berger, executive director of the St. Louis - Jefferson Solid Waste Management District. With the addition of St. Charles, the District now serves approximately 120 municipalities,
as well as rural and suburban unincorporated areas. "St. Charles
takes a regional view and approach to waste management so our efforts
cross a number of different political and jurisdictional lines,"
stated Mike Duvall, director of environmental services for St. Charles
County. "We are excited to be a part of the St. Louis- Jefferson
Solid Waste Management District to collaborate on new ideas and services
to further enhance our region."
