Recycle Works Central complements curbside recycling programs by accepting hard to handle items typically not collected at your curb:

Antifreeze
Accepted from residents only in non-returnable plastic containers.
Appliances
Note: Deliver refrigerators, air conditioners and freezers intact. Freon is removed by certified technicians and collected on site

APPLIANCE FEES: $15.00 per appliance, LIMIT 5. Ask attendant for receipt
Washers, dryers, water heaters, trash compactors, dishwashers, microwave ovens, dehumidifiers, ranges, stoves, air conditioners, refrigerators, furnaces and freezers.
Batteries
All intact, used batteries are accepted, including rechargeable, alkaline, automobile batteries, etc. For cracked or leaking car batteries, call (636) 949-7900 ext. 4271 for hazardous waste collections (appointment required).
Cardboard
Corrugated cardboard. Keep materials separate from paper.
Cartridges
Toner cartridges, ink jet cartridges and fax cartridges.
Clothing & Textiles
Used socks, hats, shoes, belts, purses, backpacks, t-shirts, coats, jackets, clothing, draperies, towels, sheets and bedspreads.
Computers and Electronics

Fluorescent Tubes
Accepted from residents only (by law we cannot accept from businesses, schools, or governments). If tubes are broken, please call (636) 949-7900 ext. 4271 for hazardous waste collections (appointment required).
Household Chemicals
FREE and available to St. Charles County residents April through October! Appointment required for all items below, except those with an asterisk *. Limits may apply; proof of residency required.

    Instructions for Chemical Collections:

  1. MAKE AN APPOINTMENT
    Gather the types and quantities of items you have and call (636) 949-7900 ext. 4271 any time March through mid-October to schedule an appointment.

  2. HOW TO PACK YOUR WASTE
    • Do not mix wastes.
    • Leave material in its original container, with the label intact.
    • Items not in original packaging should be clearly labeled with contents. Mixed waste in plastic bags will NOT be accepted.
    • Be sure the lid is secure.
    • Place the product inside a box lined with newspaper (fill gaps to prevent spills during transport).
    • Place in the trunk of your vehicle.

Newspaper, magazines, junk mail, envelopes, colored paper, manila envelopes, white office paper, message slips, computer paper, cereal boxes, dry food boxes, etc.
Material can be mixed together. If you need assistance please consult with site attendant.
Motor Oil
Accepted from residents only, in nonreturnable plastic containers no larger than two gallon capacity. Limit ten gallons per visit. Oil and transmission fluid can be mixed. If cleaning fluids or solvents are in the oil, please call (636) 949-7900 ext. 4271 for hazardous waste collection (appointment required).
Telephone Books
Separate from paper and cardboard.
Transmission & Hydraulic Fluid
Accepted from individuals only, in non-returnable plastic containers no larger than two gallon capacity. Limit ten gallons per visit. If cleaning fluids or solvents are mixed with it, please call (636) 949-7900 ext. 4264 for hazardous waste collections (appointment required).
   

For curbside recycling or yard waste collection service, contact your city hall or a licensed trash hauler. All trash hauling companies are required by county ordinance to offer curbside collection, regardless of where you live.

*All material becomes the property of the County. We reserve the right to change fees, not accept, or stop accepting any items listed at any time and without advance notice.
