Tattoo and Body Piercing Licensing &Inspection

The St. Charles County Council recently enacted the Tattooing and Body Piercing Ordinance at the request of the Department of Community Health and the Environment. This ordinance requires that both the establishment and each operator within the establishment obtain a license from the Health Department.

The ordinance excludes ear piercing from regulation. The ordinance regulates the practices of these establishments and prohibits them from serving minors (those persons under the age of 18) without meeting strict requirements for obtaining and documenting parental consent.

The Environmental Section of the Division of Public Health is responsible for enforcing the ordinance, which covers only those establishments in unincorporated St. Charles County.
