WIC focuses on improving:
- Nutritional status of women who are:
- Pregnant
- Postpartum (have been pregnant within the last 6 months),
or
breastfeeding an infant that is up to one year old
- Pregnancy outcome
- Growth and development of infants & children under 5 years of age
The WIC program is funded and administered at the national level by the U.S.
Department of Agriculture. At the state level, the program is operated by the Missouri
Department of Health, Bureau of Nutrition Services and WIC. The St. Charles County
Division of Public Health operates the program at the local level.
Renovations are moving forward at the Health Department building at 1650 Boone's Lick Road in St. Charles. During the project, many services will be temporarily relocated to accommodate construction. Here is the latest information as of January 28, 2008:
WIC Services will be moving to a temporary location in downtown St. Charles near the end of February. Clients with appointments in February or March should call ahead at (636) 949-7402 to confirm the location.
